Are You Using Big Words on Me Girl?

Cuz I don't cotton to no big damn words around here. . .

Very scary and discouraging, and all too true: Dumb and Dumber: Are Americans Hostile to Knowledge? By Patricia Cohen for the New York Times. (I mean, look at the “patriotic” right wingers who equate the French with terrorists.)

I remember a national poll that came out a few years ago about what employers and co-workers dislike most in a fellow employee. Chronic lateness? Nope. Taking credit for other’s work, or slacking off? Nope. Top of the list was: a good vocabulary.

This country has always been paranoid of people who they even suspect of being "smart," as if the person who has manners, or uses big words, or knows that fucking Europe isn't a country! are up to no good.

Sweet jesus, we’re going to hell.
